The Florida Federation of Republican women has launched a much-publicized boycott against Oprah Winfrey’s TV show and magazine since the talk queen refuses to put Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin on her show until after the election. Fox News reports that, “Democrat Barack Obama – whom Winfrey is supporting for president – was on “Oprah” twice before he announced his run for president, in January, 2005 and in October, 2006. Winfrey has said she will have neither party’s candidates on her show while they are running for their respective offices. But the 58-year-old federation, which has 4,500 members, says Winfrey should have Palin on her show now, given how important the Since launching the boycott last Saturday, Graves is quoted by Fox News as saying, “people from Southern California, Before Obama became a presidential candidate, Winfrey used her show to introduce him to American women voters, and Oprah has endorsed and campaigned with the Democratic nominee. written by Byron George , September 10, 2008 Oprah has the complete right to have or not have on her program who she wishes. To force her to have Ms. Palin on her program would be the beginning of the return of the Fairness Doctrine. A return of the Fairness Doctrine would be totally against the freedom of speech we hold sacred.

written by Jim , September 10, 2008 I agree with you, but if Oprah has the right not to have Palin on the show, the women mentioned in the article have the right to boycott if they want to. No one is "forcing" anyone to do anything, its a simple excersize of rights on both sides. I will say that I think its pretty slimy of Oprah to pretend that she is not going to get involved in the race, but yet has Obama on the show and is clearly involving herself in it. If you are going to do that, you need to either just come out and say what you mean, or be fair to both sides and show them both. Not to mention the fact that Oprah's show is focuses on women and women's issues.

written by Byron George , September 10, 2008 True Jim, but the decision should be totally up to Oprah. We both know why she is not doing it, but we also have no control and should not have control over who she has on the show. And absolutely they have the right to boycott her show.

written by Old Red , September 10, 2008 Where has Palin ever expressed an interest in being on Oprah's show? It is not like she really WANTS to talk about her policy of charging rape victims for their exams or shooting bears from airplanes. At least not in front of Oprah and her audience.

written by jb , September 11, 2008 exerpt from the Wassila news; "In the past we've charged the cost of exams to the victims insurance company when possible. I just don't want to see any more burden put on the taxpayer," Fannon said. SO...according to the fair and balanced Old Red, charging insurance companies WHEN POSSIBLE is NOW the same as charging victims... Put the koolaid down, your hate/bias/lack-of-fidelity-to-truth is showing.... Write comment
